The self proclaimed successor to the great furniture makers of the 18th century, Maurice Adams presents a unique ‘streamlined Georgian style’. At the turn of the century the designer favoured the marble-like effect of veneers and their ability to exploit the 'natural beauty' of figured woods. As his designs evolved into the modernistic 1930’s Maurice embraced new materials, such as glass and chrome, alongside ambitious futuristic realisation in design. All Adams's furniture was made by hand in Gloucester and displayed in Adams's showroom in Portman Square, London. Adam’s style perfectly embodies the cosmopolitan age and sophistication of Art Deco. His revivalist turned modernist approach to furniture can be seen in his appreciation of glossy veneers and classical shapes. His iconic black and chrome cocktail cabinet, now on display at the V&A Museum London, boasts of his radical ingenuity and complete absorption of modernism.
All of our furniture is extensively polished and restored where necessary to the highest standards.
