Parisian born, Jules Leleu (1883-1961), was a French furniture designer best known for his simplified designs featuring exotic woods, marquetry and ivory inlays. After fighting in the air force in World War 1 he returned home to open a gallery; ‘Maison Leleu’ and devoted himself to furniture making. His ability to temper modernism with classical lines was a roaring success and in 1925 he exhibited at the Exposition Industrielle et Arts Decoratifs where he won the grand prize. He went on to design the ocean liners SS lie de France and SS Normandy. After his death in 1961 his three children, André, Jean and Pale took over the family business. LeLeu’s furniture, lighting fixtures and carpets remain today to be the result of excellent craftsmanship and are considered true works of art, sought after by gallery owners, museums, and clients around the world.
All of our furniture is extensively polished and restored where necessary to the highest standards.
