A burr elm and lucite games table. Interchangeable lid with inlaid chess board to one side, set over an inset backgammon board. The whole table floats over four lucite pedestal legs. Bakelite games pieces included.
Designer: Vladimir Kagan (1927-2016). Kagan studied architecture and design at the School of Industrial design and Columbia University. He trained with his father Illi Kagan, a master cabinetmaker, opening his first shop in New York in 1949. Early work included furniture for the Delegate's Cocktail Lounge at the United Nations and he soon grew a substantial list of celebrity clientele, including stars such as Marilyn Monroe and Gary Cooper.
