'Fishing Boats on the Shore', an oil on board study of Dutch fishing boats off the shore of Scheveningen beach. Signed G.W. Opdenhoff to lower left. Set in a later gilt frame.
George Willem Opdenhoff was born in 1807 in Fulda Netherlands. He was a well-known and very skilled painter of seascapes, having been a pupil of Andreas Schelfhout and JC Schotel. Opdenhoff lived and worked in Breda, Rotterdam and from 1842 until his death in 1873 he resided in the Hague.
His works can be seen in 'The Haags Gemeentemuseum'.
