Williams Marshall (1823-2007) was an English studio potter. His life with clay began in 1934 when David Leach visited his School in St Ives looking for apprentices. William became the Leach Potterry's first apprentice, progressing to Foreman over the next forty years. By the 1950's he had developed his own style, heavily influenced by Japanese aesthetics despite never visiting Japan. He established his own pottery studio in Lelant in 1977 establishing himself as a master potter of the 20th century.
